Repairing disk permissions in El Capitan: Part Two
21 October 2015, 05:00
Over at Macintouch it’s pointed out that the repair tool in El Capitan is still there, and can be run by opening a Terminal window (an app in the Utilities folder of the Applications list) and typing the following:
sudo /usr/libexec/repair_packages --repair --standard-pkgs --volume /
You’ll need to type your login password when prompted.
Meanwhile, here’s an interesting discussion from 2005 about how permission scanning works, and why it’s also pretty useless.
