Mac Gamers: Got an Nvidia GPU? Get the latest drivers now

13 March 2016, 04:27

Mac gaming is a booming area and if your Mac has an Nvidia GPU then we’ve some good news: the latest Nvidia driver (yes, Nvidia creates Mac drivers!) is giving gamers a substantial frame-rate increase. Unlike older versions of the Nvidia driver, this one works on most Macs and will even sit alongside the “official” Apple driver, so you can switch between them if needed.

The new driver was spotted by gamer Omegal and he created a thread over at the World of Warcraft forums to provide download links. You should head there and download immediately. Nvidia also created a blog post giving details about the new driver.

Note: If your Mac has an Intel GPU and/or an AMD GPU then this isn’t for you, sadly. Apple’s got a support doc that explains how to discover the GPU inside your Mac.

Actually don’t. They are kinda faulty.

As explained in the piece this driver

“…will even sit alongside the “official” Apple driver, so you can switch between them if needed”

So you can switch to this driver for gaming, and to the standard OS X driver for day to day stuff.

Good, no?
