Lock Bluetooth on or off
5 February 2015, 11:25
Ever needed to use Bluetooth on your Mac and spent a while trying to make it work only to realise that you’d forgotten to turn it on in System Preferences, or via the Bluetooth icon on the menu bar?
I don’t know when the feature was added but in Yosemite 10.10.2 you can “lock” Bluetooth to the “on” or “off” setting, making it impossible to alter the setting without first unlocking. Just open System Preferences, select the Bluetooth icon, and then set Bluetooth either on or off and click the lock icon alongside the switch. You’ll be prompted to type your password, but from now on you won’t be able to change the Bluetooth setting without again clicking this lock – including via the Bluetooth menu bar icon.
