Apple's mapping vans dissected

Over at the Geoawesomeness blog Aleks Buczkowski has looked into several snapshots taken of Apple’s mapping vans and attempted to figure out the technology being used, as well as how much it costs ($175K per vehicle, apparently).
See the picture below but take a look at Aleks’ report. The level of detail he’s dug down into is nothing short of amazing, and he speculates also about how autonomous vehicles would fit into it all.
